The 10 powerful tips in “How To Be a Rocket Scientist” continue to prove themselves more than 10 years after this book was published.
Tip #3 is ASSOCIATE WITH PEOPLE IN THE FIELD.
In our world today, for professionals, that means one place should be your #1 place online: LINKEDIN.
Here is what my LinkedIn newsfeed brought to me this week from someone who was a 2nd connection, Berlin Hofferbert. She is a student of Astronomical & Planetary Sciences & Physics at Arizona State University. She is also a participant in the NASA L’SPACE Mission Concept Academy.
She has put together a (small) list of opportunities currently open for students in space, aerospace, engineering, and physics for late 2025 and into 2026.
It includes internships (NASA, SpaceX, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, RTX/Collins), fellowships (Brooke Owens, Patti Grace Smith), NASA academies (L’SPACE MCA and NPWEE), and student competitions like Micro-g NExT, SUITS, Student Launch, HERC, and the NASA Space Apps Challenge.
All of these are open now with deadlines coming up over the next few weeks and months!
This list is meant to be a free resource for students looking to gain experience, build their resumes, and get a foot in the door.
This is an amazing service for people out there!
Here is a link to her post that will lead you to this list of opportunities for students in space, aerospace, engineering, and physics in 2025 and 2026.
Berlin says in the post that if you know of any other opportunities that are open now for late 2025 or 2026, she would like to know in the comments, you can send them to her directly.
Connecting with Berlin Hofferbert on LinkedIn would be a smart thing for you too, if she agrees. If you make that request, please tell her that you learned about her and her list from my blog.
Take care and take charge!
